Oh Crumbs. It’s not all right!

Update: This afternoon I got a recorded telemarketing call from Bill English, Leader of the National Party. That’s two calls from two parties in two days. Thank God the elections are over this Saturday. Feel free to substitute names in the poem 🙁

I hate telemarketing especially when it’s a recorded message.

I am on the Marketing Association’s ‘Do not call’ and ‘Do not Mail’ lists.

One year I got three telemarketing calls from the same company for the same product. Do you really believe that any company can telemarket the whole of Auckland even twice in a year?

New Zealand has a General Election in progress presently.

Yesterday I got a recorded telemarketing call from Jacinda Ardern (Leader of the Labour Party).

Enjoy my poem 🙂

Here’s the executive summary (for Jacinda):

It’s not all right!

Do politicians think we will succumb
To such a partisan mindnumbing crumb?
Recorded telemarketing
Is distinctly disheartening
Do dey think all de voters are dis dumb?

Here’s the unabridged version:

It’s not all right!

Do politicians think we will succumb
To such a partisan mindnumbing crumb?
Recorded telemarketing
Is distinctly disheartening
Do dey think all de voters are dis dumb?
I’m taken aback
By any sad sack
Political hack
Who thinks it is O.K.
In any sort of way
Is Jacinda outrightly proud
To be legally allowed
To invade our privacy
To gain the Prime Ministry?
It’s all very concerning
Is Jacinda Ardern yearning
For voters so undiscerning?
To me it’s not O.K.
In any sort of way!
What a major raucous
There should be in caucus
Do politicians think we will succumb
To such a partisan mindnumbing crumb?
Recorded telemarketing
Is distinctly disheartening
Do dey think all de voters are dis dumb?

Donotcall

I like to enjoy my privacy.

I also hate door-to-door salespeople.

The following sticker is on my door and letterbox:

donotknock

I still get people come up my long drive (for nothing).
